Welcome to
FoD Community Walks

Welcome to the Forest of Dean Community Walks. Formerly known as Walking for Health and operating until recently under the umbrella of Ramblers, since 2008 our volunteer Walk Leaders have been leading walks with starting points all over the Forest of Dean district. They have been trained to lead safe and inviting walks which aim to help you get more active, improve your health and offer a chance to meet others.

We have a range of walks from those which last 10 minutes up to many which may take 1 hour. They are generally no more than 3 miles, often less, You can choose what suits you best and most walks end with refreshments with a chance to chat. All walks are free and friendly and there is no need to book.

We welcome people of any ability who would like to walk with others on an organised walk. Each of us may have different reasons for wanting to walk so come along and join in.

Our walks are based all around the Forest of Dean taking in its natural beauty and stunning views. Most of our walks finish at a cafe where we can get refreshments and have a chat.

Between spring and autumn we organise additional walks which may offer more challenge or have a special focus, such as walking the Severn Bridge or forest history.  The programme changes each year.

Forest of Dean Community Walks is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability. We aim to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0, Level AA), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make Web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly to everyone. Whilst Forest of Dean Community Walks strive to adhere to the guidelines and standards for accessibility, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website and we are currently working to achieve this. Be aware that due to the dynamic nature of the website, minor issues may occasionally occur as it is updated regularly. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.

If you have any comments and or suggestions relating to improving the accessibility of our site, please don't hesitate to contact our accessibility coordinator Andy T. by 00447881338476 or fodcommunitywalks@outlook.com. Your feedback will help us make improvements.
